Ancient Persia became established as a manufacturing center for world class Persian rugs in the 16th century under the direction of the Safavid. However, the weaving industry of the Persians was already well established in NE Iran in the city of Tabriz. New manufacturing centers in modern day Iran now compete with the traditional Tabriz carpets and this has added to the splendor of modern day Persia. I have traveled through Asia for the last 10 years searching for unique artwork and Persian rugs have captured my attention so well that I have built a special website offering the world's best Persian rugs.
